For Grades 3rd - 5th
Learn what makes a really good story or poem. Practice writing and reading your own creations, and collaborating with other students. This class will be an opportunity for students to use their imagination in a fun, lively way. For those interested in using French in their poems and stories, that's an option, too! The class will culminate in a poetry reading performance for parents and friends.
Liz Rees will lead your child's imagination through a series of creative writing exercises and games. Liz has been teaching creative writing for the last 15 years as a poet-in-the-schools for the Maryland State Arts Council, and at such universities as Johns Hopkins and the U.S. Naval Academy. The winner of national poetry contests, excerpts from two of her poems are engraved on trolley stop benches in Bethesda.
